Originally inspired by the Share Frome project, the charity Network of Wellbeing (NOW) decided to explore the possibility of a similar initiative in Totnes (Devon, UK).
After a number of community consultations and surveys, it was clear the local community was very supportive of the idea, so NOW worked for over a year to take the project off the ground. A steering group was formed, and the lovely Mark Jefferys was appointed as the Project Coordinator to run a six-month pilot project.
Thanks to the support of wonderful volunteers, a grant from the Big Lottery, the premises kindly offered by Totnes Town Council, and many donations given by community members, we finally opened our doors in April 2017!
Share Shed opened on Saturday 8th April 2017, with a group of well wishers, including Local MP Sarah Wollaston; Deputy Mayor Rosie Adams; several Town Councillors and poet Matt Harvey. Matt read a poem he had especially written for the event, you can watch the video below.
